Apocalyptic Harmony is the debut album from composer and multi-instrumentalist Alex Tranter, presenting a vibrant collection of music that blends timeless grooves with a contemporary edge. Drawing influence from a wide range of musical styles, the album takes listeners on an immersive journey through rhythm, melody, and sonic exploration.

The foundations of Apocalyptic Harmony were partly laid during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Alex began composing original music using Logic Pro X. As his skills developed, so too did the material, with ideas continuously refined and expanded over several years of exploration in this new craft. The album brings together a selection of compositions written throughout this formative period, including work created during Alex’s studies for a Bachelor of Music degree at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Recording took place both at Goldsmiths and in Alex’s home studio, where much of the editing and production process was undertaken independently. The project was later developed in Wilsford, Wiltshire, in collaboration with Solstice Studios Stonehenge and Stuart Churchill, who worked alongside Alex on the mixing and mastering. The finished album serves as a snapshot of Alex’s musical journey to date, reflecting the influences, experiences, and creative growth that have shaped him as a musician and composer.

Having grown up surrounded by music through his family’s involvement in the live events industry, and through years of personal musical exploration, Alex draws from a broad spectrum of genres and traditions. Apocalyptic Harmony showcases his unique approach to combining these influences into a distinctive and authentic musical voice.

Speaking about the project, Alex says:

“Apocalyptic Harmony is my first release, compiling a lot of music i've written since starting the journey back as early as late lockdown. A lot of the songs were written and arranged quite a while ago, purely just letting whatever ideas that came into my mind have their say, and to not have any pre-made ideas or aims to take up to much energy and get in the way of letting the music come through. Something i really appreciate now, just how explorative you are with music when you start out and how freeing it feels when your just starting out. I decided I wanted to create an album with some of the material I’d written over this time whilst I was in my first year at Goldsmiths in 2024. The post-recording and production side of things took up quite a bit of time as well, making me realise how equally creative and time consuming this period is in a project’s life. As an independent musician and with nearly all this album being written and produced by myself, ive had to take time understanding the different hats we must wear as musicians now, and to figure out a nice system to keep the whole process flowing and to match my strengths and weaknesses in these areas. And I’ve found it hard not to re tamper or change some bits that I feel could be improved or hear in a different way now following the production process. Just to leave it as a reflection of me when I wrote it. I think that keeps it the most raw and honest, and to bring my new skills with me for future projects. That’s definitely how I’d describe the music on this album, raw and just someone having fun and exploring their craft! Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of it, listens and gives their time to it, and I’m very much looking forward to the future. Happy music making!”

Designed as a complete listening experience, Apocalyptic Harmony can be enjoyed from start to finish as an immersive musical journey, or simply as the soundtrack to everyday moments. However it is experienced, the album invites listeners to connect with its energy, groove, and spirit of exploration.
